iView Media Q&A » Importing from Digital Cameras

How do I import images from my digital camera?

First check that the format of the images that your camera produces is supported by iView Media. Within iView Media check the Media Importers (iView Media menu on OS X, Apple menu on OS 9 and the Help menu on a Windows PC). To catalog a digital camera manufacturers RAW format (CRW, NEF ... etc) you will need to use iView MediaPro.

The normal way to import images from a camera is to mount the camera or a card reader as a volume on your computer and copy the images to a folder on the hard drive before cataloging in iView Media.

In addition Macintosh OS X and Windows XP support importing directly from some cameras. With the camera connected from the File menu choose ‘Import Items’ -> ‘From Camera’.

You may need to check with Apple, Microsoft or your camera manufacturer to see if your model of camera is supported.
