Why can't I import media files that I know Media supports?
The most common cause of media not importing in iView Media is an incorrect setting made in the Import Options. You can check these by going to Edit -> Import Options ... The 'Filters' tab filters media as it is imported. By default all of these options are not selected, one of the criteria here could be the reason media is not importing, so try with every option deselected. The second tab could also block media from importing. Check in the 'Media Types' tab that the general type of file you are trying to import is selected. You can check which type a particular format comes under from 'Media Importers ...' - on the iView Media menu on a Mac or 'about Media Importers' on the Help menu on a Windows PC to see if the media format is supported. If in doubt select them all.
Why do my thumbnails look fuzzy, pixelated?
By default, iView Media imports thumbnails that have been embedded into the file by other programs (such Internet Explorer or Photoshop) or devices (digital cameras). This makes iView Media very fast when importing media, but embedded thumbnails may sometimes look blurry or pixelated. To improve the quality of the thumbnail, chose the image(s) and select “Rebuild Thumbnail" from the Action menu.
Another option is to select "Ignore Built-in Thumbnails" in the "Import Option" dialog under the File menu. This option tells Media to build its own high-quality thumbnail for each image.
