Why don't Kodak raw images display on an Intel Mac?
We use Kodaks own libraries to support their format. Unfortunately Kodak has not updated these libraries to be Intel compatible. The other method we have of rendering Raw formats is to use technology within the OS, unfortunately the Mac OS does not support Kodak cameras.
If you are using an Intel Mac you can run iView MediaPro 3 in Rosetta mode and Kodak raw images will work.
Kodak Raw images
In MediaPro 3 you have the option of viewing the preview image embedded within a Raw Kodak image or rendering the full raw image. In most situations the preview will be the best option, it is much faster to display and for most Kodak camera models is large enough for most purposes. You can choose which image to display in the 'Media Rendering ...' section of the Preferences. In 'Camera Raw' (from a pulldown menu) is the option 'Use Embedded Preview (if Available)'.
If Kodak Raw images take too long to display you should turn this option on. If the Media view of a image is the preview then the dimensions of the image (shown above the image) will be preceded by an asterix (*).
