Q&A » Annotations

Why are annotations not seen by other applications?

MediaPro uses four fields that are part of the IPTC standard but are not used by many applications.

These fields are People, Status, Event and Location.

Some applications will not see these fields but will show the other, more commonly used, annotations. A few applications will interpret these annotations as a badly formed annotation block and will not display any annotations at all. If your workflow includes an application that exhibits this problem then do not annotate these fields.

In a collaborative environment you could choose to not show these fields so that they are not annotated by mistake.

Why can't I see the 'Status', 'Event', 'Location' or 'People' field in Adobe Creative Suite?

These fileds are part of the IPTC standard but not as commonly used as some other fields. You can display them in Adobe Creative Suite by adding a custom info panel. This will add another option in the 'File Info' dialog in Adobe Creative Suite where these fields can be accessed.

Please see the MediaPro Documentation folder for information on installing this panel.

How do I edit the pull down lists of annotations that I have used?

The annotations shown in these lists are simply stored in text documents in the following location -

Windows Documents and settings\(current user)\Application data\iView\Favorites\

Mac OS 9 System Folder/Application Support/iView/Plug-ins/Favorites/

Mac OS X ~User/Library/Application Support/iView/Plug-ins/Favorites/

There is a list for each annotation field and you can edit them in any text editor.
