Why can't I use Photoshop CS as a helper application? (Mac)

There can be a problem with any application that tries to use Photoshop CS (PS CS) as a helper application ('open with'). PS CS will be launched but the selected images(s) will not be opened. This is not a problem specific to MediaPro using PS CS as a helper.

The solution is to reinstall Photoshop. You may find other answers by searching Adobe's support pages.

Why can't I see my blank CD/DVD in the backup destinations? (Mac)

MediaPro is able to backup to volumes that are visable on the desktop.

Macintosh OS X can natively burn to a CD/DVD using a supported drive. By default when you insert a blank disk in a supported drive you are given a choice of options, the correct action is 'Open in finder'. This option can be set as the default option in the CDs and DVDs system preference.

Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) changed the way blank disks are treated, which required an update in MediaPro. To see blank disks in MediaPro using Tiger you will need to use at least version 2.6.4 build 401B.

Macintosh OS 9 does not include native burning. If you cannot natively burn the type of disk you want to backup to you could consider one of these alternatives using the third party software you will have for your disk burner.

1. Simply drag a selection of items to the windows of your burning application.

2. To add the burning application as a helper Ctrl-click an item in the catalog and choose 'Open with' and then 'Setup menu'. Choose 'Add', locate the application you want to add and then choose 'Open'. Now, when you ctrl-click a single item or selection, you can choose 'Open with' and then your application.

Windows operating systems before Windows XP cannot natively burn to a CD. At the time of writing Windows XP cannot natively burn a DVD.

If your operating system cannot burn the type of disk you want to backup to you could consider one of these alternatives using the third party software you will have for your disk burner.

1. Simply make a selection and drag the selection to the burning utility.

2. Add the burning utility as a helper application. Right click an item in the catalog. Choose 'Open with ...' and then 'Define Helper Applications ...' Choose add and then locate the application you wish to add as a helper. This application will then be available when you use 'Open With ...'.
