The transition effects do not appear to work in slide shows exported as a QuickTime movie.
If you are using video compression, make sure that your frame rate is higher than 1 fps. If there is no value in the QuickTime compression settings dialog, fps defaults to 1, and you'll get no effect (as the effect lasts for one second).
How do I add a background sound with my slide show?
• Import an MP3 or any audio file and place it at the beginning of your catalog
• Add some images
• Select the 1st item (or no item)
• Run the slideshow
If you want to add more sounds you can synchronize images with sounds using the Slide Show Setup dialog.
