I want more annotation fields, as well as the ability to edit favorite lists?
• You can define up to 16 user fields for each catalog. Each field can have it's own name. See "Define Fields" in the Edit menu. Here you can add and remove fields. Note: When you drop files from one catalog to another, iView MediaPro automatically moves attached fields to the destination catalog.
• Field favorites are saved inside a series of text files inside iView's "Plug-Ins:Favorites" folder. You can open these files with SimpleText (or any other editor), and edit them as you see fit.
On a related note, you can write a AppleScript to export existing contents (keywords, categories, etc.) and add them to your favorites lists.
Explain the options for the synchronize function?
•QuickTime fields applies to movies, sounds and GIF files. All other options apply to images only.
• IPTC resource fork & data fork: Both these options will include the full IPTC annotation block in the resource/data fork (or both) of the image. Data fork exporting is recommended if you are dealing with PC users. However, only JPEG and Photoshop format are currently supported. TIFF & EPS will be supported in a later release. No other formats are currently configured to carry IPTC metadata on the PC.
• Fetch will export a Mac-only bundle of just the caption and keywords.
I was hoping there would be some icon next to a photo to indicate there is a voice annotation to listen to?
There is! Open the Layout dialog (CMD-L) and choose the "Attachments" field (a checkmark should appear). The green speaker icon will appear with a photo that has voice annotations. Other icons indicate the presence of an embedded URL, annotations and media info.
