I get the "out of memory -108" message when viewing Nefs

Nefs are notoriously memory hungry. This is one of the few situations when we do recommend increasing the memory allocated to iView MediaPro. Do a get info on the iView MediaPro application icon to increase the memory allocated, the best setting will depend on the resolution of the images (which will differ with different camera models) so you may need to experiment.

Please note this only applies to OS 8.6 and 9.x, memory is dynamically assigned in OS X so this problem should not occur.

About the MediaPro software bundled with your camera.

The software bundled with Nikon cameras is a full version iView MediaPro. You may use this copy for a trial period of 3 weeks. If you decide to continue using iView MediaPro after this period, you will need to purchase a license number.

Licensing:
Purchase a single license: You will be emailed a license number which you will need to enter in the iView MediaPro License Menu.
Visit our shop to buy an iView MediaPro CD ROM with printed manual, directly from us or from our international distributors.

Which platforms can I run iView MediaPro?

iView MediaPro runs on Macintosh systems only. It runs natively on Max OS X and Classic. For Classic (OS 8.6 or 9.x) iView requires CarbonLib to be installed in your extensions folder.

Can iView read Nikon's raw NEF files for a D1X camera?

iView MediaPro supports all formats used by Nikon cameras (including JPEG, TIFF, NEF Raw and NEF compressed). To catalog the NEF format you need to have NikonView 4 or newer installed in your computer. MediaPro also supports the EXIF standard used by Nikon cameras to record your shooting parameters.

Does iView catalog the entire image?

No. You need to download your images to your disk before cataloging them. iView MediaPro only stores references to your images (on disk or CDROM) and keeps a copy of the image's thumbnail and meta data. If you trash an image you will not be able to recover it from MediaPro.

If you use "Import Media From Camera" (see tutorial), you will be able to catalog images and copy them to your hard disc simultaneously.

NikonView doesn't recognise my copy of iView MediaPro?

For greater compatibility with Mac OS X, iView MediaPro is now an application package. NikonView does not yet recognise application packages. To fix this issue you need to follow these steps:

• Click on iView MediaPro icon with Control Key down and choose "Show Package Contents".
• Locate the iView MediaPro application (inside "Contents:MacOSClassic").
• Create an alias of the iView MediaPro application and move it anywhere on your disk.
• Click again on iView MediaPro icon with Control Key down and choose "Hide Package Contents"
• Go to NikonView and choose the Alias you just created as your database.

Due to battery recharging, the date stamp in my camera occasionally resets to 0000:00:00. Is there a way to fix this with MediaPro?

Yes. You can do this using "Reset Capture Date" in the Action menu to set any date to your original image, without altering image data or other meta data fields.

Can I rotate my JPEG photos without recompressing the image?

Yes, but make sure you use iView MediaPro 1.4 or newer. Select your image and then choose "JPEG Rotate" in the Action menu. Your updated image will rotate without any loss of quality.
