About the Submission Utility
The iView MediaPro Submission Utility is designed to streamline the submission of photos to Getty Images and is only for use by Getty Images signed Creative photographers. If you would like to find out how sign with Getty Images, please click here.
In conjunction with MediaPro, this utility makes it easy to add and edit required metadata and address errors with image and/or required metadata before sending material to Getty Images. Image file properties and metadata are validated to the Getty Images Submission Requirements.
This utility automatically creates a submission package (file structure, image versions, metadata and a folder for digital releases). These packages are saved locally and are ready for being burned to CD or DVD.
This utility also walks you through the process of creating submission information and provides you with a disc cover that can be printed and trimmed for each disc submitted to Getty Images.
Please note that iView MediaPro is a digital asset management tool and does not convert RAW digital images into other formats. Images should be converted to the appropriate format (i.e. TIFF) with a RAW image converter prior to using the submission utility.
Install the Submission Utility & Getty Images plug-in
- Download the Submission Utility and the Getty Images plug-in on this page.
- On the Mac, open the .dmg by double-clicking. Then double-click on the MediaPro Submission Utility icon. This will install the app. On Windows, double-click the installer and follow the instructions.
- Double click the plug-in file with the .emsuplug extension. A dialog will ask which app to use to install the plug-in, simply click OK. This will install the Getty Images configuration package. (If for some reason your computer has added .zip to the end of the plug-in name, then remove the .zip and double-click to install.) The plug-in installer will automatically move itself to the trash when it’s done installing.
- The installer puts the utility in the Applications folder on the Mac, and the Program Files folder on Windows.
Note: If iView MediaPro was open during the installation process, you will need to restart iView MediaPro to make the new settings take effect.

Using the Submission Utility
- Create a new iView MediaPro catalog. Import all the TIFF files that you wish to submit to Getty Images.
- Under the Scripts menu, select Getty Images > Setup Fields. This will create all the necessary custom fields needed for a Getty submission.
- In the Info Panel, enter the information for all required IPTC Core and custom Getty Images metadata fields.
- Select some images that you want to submit to Getty Images. Launch the Submission Utility by selecting "Submit to Getty Images" in the workflow toolbar drop-down menu. It’s the furthest icon to the right. This will start the validation process.
- Review your validation results list. Return to MediaPro and make any corrections as needed to your images to ensure they meet Getty Images standards. Run validation again to make sure that all files are ready.
- Once your images have passed validation, the utility will then convert the TIFF images to JPEGs for final submission to Getty Images. Because of this step, you no longer need to use the Getty Images Preflight tool to convert the images to JPEG as part of the submission process.
- Enter your package options and create your package(s).
- Place the digital release files for each image to the "Releases" folder of each package.
- Fill out the appropriate Getty Images submission form. Put a copy of the filled out submission form in each package folder.
- Burn each package (containing JPEG image files - not the TIFF files) to disc.
- Print each package's disc cover and insert into jewel case.
- Mail discs to Getty Images, ensuring you have adhered to all other Submission Requirements.
